Leader of Opposition resigns from National Oversight Committee

Posted: Friday, June 12, 2020. 6:26 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: In an unprecedented move at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Dean Barrow and Leader of the Opposition, John Briceno joined forces to face the pandemic and to assist the many Belizeans affected.

In a letter sent to the Prime Minister by Briceno, he thanks the Prime Minister for the opportunity to co chair the committee as the country faced the pandemic.

But, Briceno said that he must now return to his duties as Leader of the Opposition of Belize.

Briceno extended gratitude and best wishes to the Prime Minister and Government of Belize.

This is as the current administration’s five year term comes to an end and there is no date yet for general elections.
