Lord Ashcroft Relief Fund makes $60,000 donation to Rotary Club and Kolbe Foundation

Posted: Friday, June 12, 2020. 8:51 am CST.

By BBN Staff: This week the Lord Ashcroft Relief Fund (LARF) donated $60,000 to the Rotary Club of Belize and the Kolbe Foundations, the managing body of the Belize Central Prison.

Yesterday, Lyndon Guiseppi, Chairman of the Lord Ashcroft COVID-19 Relief Fund and Denise Godfrey, Senior Marketing Officer of the Belize Bank Limited handed over the cheque to Felix Reyes, President of the Rotary Club of Belize and Mr.Francis Woods, Co-Chair Service Projects of the Rotary Club of Belize. The donation will go towards a joint project between the Rotary Club and the Kolbe Foundation, to help with the national COVID-19 response.

“A total of 20,000 face masks will be produced by the Tailoring Section of the Prison’s Rehabilitation Program which has been actively producing reusable

face masks since March of this year. These masks will be distributed throughout Belize by the Rotary Club of Belize, free of cost…” the LARF said

The organizations said that the masks will be distributed to the marginalized community in light of our country’s mandatory State of Emergency (SOE) regulations to help in further preventing the spread of COVID-19. Today, Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte said that the recent relaxing of the SOE regulations makes wearing maks and practicing social distancing more important than ever.

Mr.Reyes expressed his appreciation to the Lord Ashcroft COVID-19 Relief Fund committee for taking an interest in helping not only our country to fight this latest pandemic but also for investing in the inmates at the Belize Central Prison in acquiring a trade through the Tailoring Program.
