Heated feud between neighbors escalates to chopping in Esperanza

By BBN Staff: San Ignacio police responded to a chopping incident around 12:50 a.m. today in Esperanza.

According to reports, police visited the hospital and found Isaias Estrada, 31, with an amputated left wrist and chop wound to his head.

Police then went to Meduggi Street in Esperanza where a resident admitted to causing the injuries to Estrada.

The resident told police that it was done in self-defense.

The resident says that he heard someone calling his name and he took his machete and went out.

While outside, he saw his neighbor, a woman with whom he has a dispute standing in front of her gate along with Isaias Estrada.

The woman accused the resident of shaking her gate and an argument ensued.

The resident says that then, Estrada pulled out a machete and charged at him.

He reported that he then pulled out his machete and swung it at Estrada.

The resident who confessed also had chop wound on his right hand and an injury on his nose.

An investigation is on-going.
