By BBN Staff: A caretaker of Santa Famila village, Cayo reported to San Ignacio police this week that the home she looks after was burglarized sometime between June 9th and 11th of over $3,000 worth of valuables including two TVs.
Merilin Humes, 19, told police that she had visited the home on Tuesday night to make sure everything was in order then locked up and left. When she visited again on Thursday morning she found the house ransacked. Burglars left with two TVs from the house, a piggy bank with over $700 in it, a pair of Nike tennis shoes and a trimming machine all to a total value of $3,030.
The burglars reportedly gain access to the house through a small window in one of the bedrooms by removing the burglar bars. The home’s owner currently resides in the United States. Police visited the scene and was processed but no useful information was gathered.
