Director of Health Services says quick detection and rapid isolation is key to Belize’s success in COVID-19 battle

Posted: Sunday, June 14, 2020. 8:29 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Office of the Director of Health Services (DHS) issued a statement minutes ago saying that the key elements in any on going Belizean success story will be quick detection and rapid isolation to contain further spread of COVID-19 cases.

“We will therefore continue to work diligently with the relevant departments in the ongoing repatriation process that has clearly articulated guidelines of how the process and the flow of arrivals would be,” the statement noted.

The DHS said that once this is followed, the way the plan is structured, all Belizeans would be able to return without this contributing to any potential community spread.

But, the DHS said that he is concerned with the potential cases that may come through the illegal border entry points as this would surely escape any quick containment.

The office promises to keep the nation updated in real time and notify of any changes that need to be made.
