By BBN Staff: The iconic American business magazine, Forbes, has listed Belize as one of 11 countries for foreigners to obtain residency and hold a second passport.
The article titled “11 Best Places For Residency And A Second Passport,” was written by a contributor, Kathleen Peddicord, who has over 30 years of experience writing about investing overseas.
The article markets the value of Belize’s passport for its ability to live and work throughout the Caribbean Community and travel to a total of 101 countries Visa-free. The article also notes that, unlike some other countries, there is no mandatory requirement to join the military on the way to becoming a citizen.
The other countries on the list are Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ireland, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, and Uruguay. Belize has an ever-growing population of expatriates (expats) all over the country. As these populations grow, Belize gets more international exposure which can be a boon to the tourism sector, for those that come to visit to see if settling in Belize is right for them. More expats also have a positive effect on Belize’s economy as many of them open businesses and employ Belizeans.
