Met Service: Moist and unstable weather will linger over the country today

The National Meteorological Service of Belize says that moist and unstable conditions will linger over the country today.

The 24-hour forecast calls for cloudy skies with some showers, thunderstorms and periods of rain, especially over central and northern areas this morning, decreasing this afternoon. A few showers and thunderstorms will re-develop mainly over the south tonight.

Today’s temperature highs will range from 84 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 88 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 75 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills. Tonight’s temperature lows will range from 78 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 74 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 68 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills.

Winds will be blowing East at 10-20 knots, and the sea state will be choppy-rough

“A small craft caution remains in effect for coastal waters of Belize,” the Met Service said. “There is the possibility of localized flooding over low-lying and flood-prone areas. Increasing river levels are expected on the Rio Hondo and New River. There is a flood alert for watersheds on the eastern slopes of the Maya mountains.”

High tide came in at 7:34 a.m. and low tide will occur at 3:02 p.m.

The sun will set at 6:29 p.m. and the moon will rise tomorrow at 3:56 a.m.
