“Weather conditions to improve,” says Met service

By BBN Staff: The latest weather report from the National Meteorological Service of Belize says that improving weather conditions are expected during the next couple of days.

The 24-hour forecast calls for sunny skies with a few cloudy spells today and partly cloudy skies tonight. Showers or thunderstorms will be isolated.

Today’s temperature highs will range from 86 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 90 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 60 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills. Tonight’s temperature lows will range from 80 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, to 75 degrees Fahrenheit inland, and 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the hills.

Winds will be blowing East-Southeast at 10-20 knots, and the sea state will be moderate.

“Becol reported rising water levels are expected downstream of the Chilillo, Vaca, and Mollejon dams near San Ignacio, Santa Elena, and surrounding communities,” the Met Service said. “A flood warning is in effect for the central Belize River area and the upper Sibun River and a flood watch for watersheds along the eastern slopes of the Maya mountains, lower Sibun and Manatee River area.”

High tide came in at 8:10 a.m. and low tide will occur at 3:41 p.m.

The sun will set at 6:29 p.m. and the moon will rise tomorrow at 4:42 a.m.
