Belize Natural Energy celebrates Discovery day

Contributed by Belize Natural Energy: Fifteen years ago on June 24, 2005 BNE discovered oil in commercial quantities, striking on the first go at Mike Usher #1 in the Spanish Lookout Community. The discovery gave birth to the Belize’s first and only oil company.

Commenting on what the discovery means BNE Chairperson, Ms. Susan Morrice says, “Today, I would like to honor my friend and business partner, Mike Usher. Together we brought forth a Vision of finding oil in Belize. Although Mike did not get to see in person the oil gushing out of our first well on 24 June 2005, I have a funny feeling he was watching on from afar.”

While the oil has been an incredible blessing, BNE believes that even more impactful and revolutionary, has been the discovery of the power and potential that lies within each one of us. As the legendary geologist Wallace Pratt once said “Oil is first found in the minds of men [and women].”

Putting that belief into action, the Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust (BNECT) was founded. BNECT’s vision is one of empowerment for Belizeans by assisting them to become conscious architects of their own future. BNE and BNECT together celebrate this momentous day of oil discovery in Belize and pledge to continue fulfilling its vision of empowering Belizeans.
