By BBN Staff: Zapwater Communications, a United States-based livestyle and travel conaultancy firm, says that 65 percent of travelers are looking forward to return to traveling again.

The agency recently conducted a survey with a sample size of 1,280 that asked questions pertaining to areas participants preferred to travel, when they would feel comfortable traveling again, length of trip, mode of transportation, travel experiences, type of trip, factors that would influence travel, and travel habits among others.

The survey also showed that 56 percent of participants said they feel comfortable spending just as much on a trip as they would have before COVID-19. Four in five (80 percent) of respondents said they are willing to travel three to seven nights during their first post-coronavirus trip.

The data comes at a time when Belize’s tourism industry was brought to a standstill due to the COVID-19 pandemic causing massive losses of jobs and income. And while tourism stakeholders may be encouraged by the potential for business to return to normal, particularly with the announcement of the reopening of the Philip Goldson International Airport(PGIA); the data also comes at a time when COVID-19 infections in the US continue to soar.

The US, which represents around 67 percent of all visitors to Belize, has over 2.6 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 and over 128,000 deaths.
