American couple beaten and robbed at their home

By BBN Staff: Last night around 10.30, police received information of a burglary from an American couple.

The husband, 80, and wife, 77, reported to police that about 10.15 pm, they were locking the burglar bar of their house door from inside when two men entered with force demanding money from them.

The couple told police that the men were dressed in dark colored clothing with hoodie over their heads and face masks and sunglasses on. The men were approximately 5ft 4 inches in height and were aggressive in demanding cash.

During the process, the wife was hit with a pipe to the left elbow, left wrist, and to the head causing pain and swelling, while the husband was hit with a stick to the head, upper left arm, and to the left side of the back.

Fearing for their lives, the couple told police that they opened their wallet and the robbers took from them approximately BZD $174 in different denominations and made good their escape.

Medico forms were issued based on injuries observed and the couple was advised to visit the Seine Bight Police Station to make a formal report.
