BREAKING: 4 more cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Belize

Posted: Tuesday, June 30, 2020. 6:57 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health informed a short while ago that four (4) more cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Belize. All four (4) patients are repatriates returning to Belize under the official repatriation protocols established by the Government of Belize. The 4 persons who tested positive came into the country last week, 2 through the Northern Border entry point and 2 on the flight that arrived at the Phillip Goldson International Airport on Friday.

The 4 cases identified were part of the 95 samples that were processed today.

All 4 persons are asymptomatic and went into immediate mandatory hotel quarantine upon arrival in Belize.

The active surveillance efforts for COVID-19 continue and the Ministry of Health continues to follow the established protocols that apply to the repatriation process.

As the country continues to receive repatriates, it is expected that additional cases of COVID-19 will be identified. However, currently there is no community spread of the virus in Belize and the recent positive cases were all imported.
