By Micah Goodin: I am very proud of how we have been able to weather the COVID-19 storm at the Belize City Council.

Because the country went under lock down and all revenue streams had dried up or were expected to- we had to strategically and carefully manage existing resources.

The Mayor advised that we put our almost 500 staffers on a rotation basis.

For 2 week periods some employees stayed at home and received half pay while others worked and received full pay.

This proved to be a successful strategy.

The Mayor has announced that all employees will go back to full salary for the next pay period.

Additionally, the salaries lost over the state of emergency will be paid out at a later date and has not been forgone.

Not a single person terminated, everybody at City Hall will still be able to provide for their families.

This is contemporary leadership. Big respect my brother Bernard Wagner
