Campaigns heat up as UDP prepares for 2nd party-leader convention

By BBN Staff: The ruling United Democratic Party (UDP) will be holding its second party leader convention on July 12, 2020 with hopes of finding a new party leader to succeed outgoing Prime Minister and party-leader Dean Barrow.

The July convention will be the 2^nd convention since the UDP held its convention on February 9, 2020 and elected John Saldivar. However, Saldivar resigned just days after the victory amidst allegations made against him.

Several well-known UDP figures that had publicly supported Saldivar in his initial quest have now expressed their support for Faber as UDP party leader.

On July 12, Saldivar will take on Faber, Wilfred Elrington, and Darrell Bradley.

Meanwhile, Barrow continues as party leader and Prime Minister until he surrenders both positions.

The new leader of the UDP will be tasked with taking the party into the upcoming general elections.
