By BBN Staff: The Belize City Animal Aid (BCAA), formerly the Belize City Humane Society, is hosting a bake sale this weekend to continue its work of providing essential care to animals in need.
The sale takes place on Saturday, July 4 at Brodies on the Philip Goldson Highway. The proceeds from the event will go towards the care of “Georgie”, the dog shown on the organization’s flyer referencing the event.
Diandra Peralta, President of the BCAA, said that the event is the organization’s first attempt at a fundraiser since the end of the state of emergency, however, this event and those to follow are still organized with the intent to adhere to the remaining social distancing guidelines.
Peralta said that the organization is currently offering assistance on a case-by-case basis, as the country tries to return to normal.
“We really just want to help the animals that you see out there that are sometimes too sick to handle. Many times we experience heartbreak for the animals that we really can’t save, but for the ones we can we try our best,” Peralta said.
Upcoming events for the BCAA will include an online pet show and a short story contest for children.
