Drug plane forced to crash land in Mexico; was headed for Belize

By Aaron Humes: Police had to prepare a welcoming committee for a potential landing of a drug plane this weekend.

Security forces in the area of Chunox, Corozal District, found a well-lit area resembling an airstrip.

They settled in to wait, but having apparently been tipped off by local conspirators, according to Commissioner of Police Chester Williams, the plane continued on to Mexico where it crash landed on a highway and burst into flames, and authorities were able to recover some of the drugs.

The Commissioner said for every plane that lands, one or two others are warded off. He added that police continue working on  bringing in the local conspirators.
