Police confirm arrests in robbery at Scotia Bank

Posted: Monday, July 6, 2020. 11:05 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: Police have arrested and charged three persons with a robbery of a depositor at Scotiabank Northern Branch on the Philip Goldson highway and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

According to police, they are not clear whether the accused specifically targeted the depositor or the bank itself.

Despite their efforts to trace the owner of the boat and the vehicle used in the incident, the vehicle identification number was “scrubbed” and the owner has not been identified as a suspect.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams defended the use of force by his officers, stating they were under fire and justified, pending investigation by the DPP, the use of reasonable force in the pursuit of their duties. He added that the deceased, as a matter of course, will not be charged as he is not alive to face those charges.
