Chetumal returns to lockdown after spike in COVID-19 cases

By BBN Staff: The neighboring community of Chetumal, Quintana Roo has returned to strict lockdown regulations after an increase in COVID-19 cases.

Local news reports indicate that Chetumal returns to quarantine and social confinement given the large increase in infections.

An official informed that the measures are to prevent the spread of infections in the Othon P Blanco municipality.

The authorities will implement road closings to encourage the people to stay at home.

The decision was made to try and contain the number of infections.

As of Monday, Chetumal confirmed 859 cases of COVID-19 and 44 deaths.

Belizean authorities continue to monitor the situation in the neighboring countries.
