By BBN Staff: Atlantic Bank is hosting its 10th Annual Art Competition. According to the Bank, it hosted its first Art Competition in 2011 as part of celebrating 40 years of service in Belize. The competition was so successful that it became an annual event. Every year, the artistic talents of Belizean children are highlighted through the competition. Atlantic Bank believes that as corporate citizens, it is vital to support art and culture in Belize. “We feel that nurturing such talents from a young age is crucial to keeping art alive in Belize. As we celebrate 10 years of this competition, we realize the importance of continuing with this annual event, even more so now with the current pandemic we face,” a statement from the Bank.
In a matter of months, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed how students are educated and carry on with their everyday activities. These changes have and will continue to have an impact on their lives. The Bank would like to give students an outlet to express and share their feelings. Thus, this year’s theme is: COVID-19: the opportunities, changes and impact. For the first time, the competition will have two categories – one for primary schools which includes students from Standard 4 to 6 and the other category for high school students which includes 1st to 4th form students. Each category has fifteen prizes, with students being able to win up to BZD$1,000.00 and a BZD$500.00 gift certificate for school supplies. The students also have a chance to win their school a BZD$200.00 A&R Gift Certificate.
Students are encouraged to draw or paint an artwork based on the theme and also include a brief paragraph explaining their masterpiece. The deadline for submission of the student’s artwork is Friday, August 14th, 2020 by 5:00 p.m. to the Marketing Department, Atlantic Bank Ltd., Cor. Cleghorn Street & Freetown Road, Belize City, Belize.
Students are encouraged to participate in this year’s Competition and win BIG!
