By BBN Staff: Today, the Governor General signed a proclamation declaring a state of emergency for Blue Creek and San Felipe Villages in Orange Walk.
This was done after the Ministry of Health confirmed 3 new cases of COVID-19 yesterday.
“For the purposes of preventing, controlling, containing and suppressing the spread of the infectious disease COVID-19 and maintaining peace and public order, a curfew is hereby imposed during the hours of eight o’clock p.m. until four fifty-nine a.m. of the following morning for the emergency area, during the period of public emergency declared by Proclamation.
(2) Notwithstanding sub-regulation (1), every minor shall be and remain within the confines of private property during the hours of six p.m. until six a.m. the following morning,” the proclamation stated.
The Director of Health Services indicated yesterday that the patients are minors and entered the country illegally.
The Ministry of Health is currently monitoring 15 active cases of COVID-19.
The Director of Health Services indicated that the exercise will continue throughout the weekend given the identification of a cluster in Blue Creek.
