By Aaron Humes: Prime Minister Dean Barrow says he remains leader of the United Democratic Party until general elections are called, likely sooner rather than later.
He says he voted today for “the right candidate” to succeed him.
But what of his promise to drum out whoever took money from now-convicted fraudster Lev Aslan Dermen as candidate John Saldivar conceded he has?
It turns out that PM Barrow needed support from the party’s Ethics Committee, but no one challenged Saldivar’s bona fides and the party, by convention, treats past candidates for party posts as reasonably full of integrity.
As for when an election will be called, Barrow quipped that he was waiting for COVID-19 to get under control, which it is not, yet.
