Posted: Sunday, July 12, 2020. 8:08 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Office of the Director of Health services informed that they are monitoring some close contacts of the last 7 COVID-19 patients.

Some of the persons are symptomatic and are considered suspect cases.

The Office said that these persons were swabbed and remain isolated.

In terms of Belize’s last 19 cases after the initial 18, the breakdown in terms of where they originated from is as follows:

1 from Guatemala (illegal crossings)
2 from Honduras (illegal crossings)
5 from the US (repatriation process)
11 from Mexico (9 illegal crossings and 2 from the repatriation process).

The Ministry of Health thanks the Blue Creek community for the proactive engagement and support of the staff yesterday and today.

The Ministry encourages everyone to continue to remain safe, practice physical distancing and wear a mask properly when out in the public.

In neighbouring Quintana Roo with Othon P, Blanco, they are now at 794 active cases and 48 deaths associated to COVID-19.

“We now more than ever, require ongoing community support if we are to properly identify and contain further cases,” the statement ended.
