By Aaron Humes: Speaking to reporters after casting his vote this morning, Prime Minister Dean Barrow announced the approval of more funds from international financial institutions to help Belize’s COVID-19 relief effort.
According to Barrow, US$10 million was approved by the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) to supplement the Food Assistance Program.
And the World Bank has approved US$21 million in two parts – $13 million for social protection and $8 million for agriculture.
The Opposition People’s United Party has demanded proper documentation for loans which must be approved by the National Assembly.
