British Virgin Islands advises all non-nationals to leave once they are not working

Posted: Monday, July 13, 2020. 2:27 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The government of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) has notified all non-nationals that they should leave once they have lost their jobs and are unable to find work due to COVID-19.

The reason for the decision is because not all non-nationals who lost their jobs will qualify for a conditional permit.

Previously, people who would have been terminated and tried to seek alternative employment would qualify for the permit.

But, since the impact of COVID-19 is great, many will not be able to find alternative jobs and will be required to leave the territory.

The people asked to leave are asked to inform the Immigration Department on details of their departure.

In addition, the government is concerned about the reality of people being unable to sustain themselves due to the situation.
