Parents concerned about school reopening on August 10

Posted: Monday, July 13, 2020. 9:49 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Education informed their intentions to prepare for school reopening on August 10.

Since then, many parents have taken to social media to express their concern about the reopening of school on August 10.

The main concern is that the airport is scheduled to reopen on August 15, 2020.

Belize opening the airport and welcoming international tourists may mean that visiting tourists can be infected with the virus and the amount of cases could increase.

Thus, parents believe that refraining from sending their children to school may be a better option especially during this time.

Many tourists that visit Belize are Americans and the US has of today confirmed over 3 million cases.

Florida recorded a new single-day record increase on Sunday of over 15,000.

Many schools have now issued their new regulations for students, some even opting for a shift system for morning or afternoon sessions.

Teachers are preparing for integrating subjects due to the timing of the sessions and preparing classrooms with hygiene kits and the practicing of social distancing.

Belize has now registered 37 cases of COVID-19.
