By BBN Staff: Our newsroom has confirmed that Gaspar Vega, area representative for the Orange Walk North electoral division will not be seeking re-election.
In a letter addressed to party chairman Michael Peyrefitte, Vega says that the decision comes after careful consideration, but that he remains loyal to the United Democratic Party and hopes a suitable replacement can be found.
“I pledge my assistance in finding a suitable replacement and upon doing so I pledge my support in delivering victory for our United Democratic Party in Orange Walk North,” Vega said.
Notably his decision follows the victory of Patrick Faber as party leader, a victory which was followed by the resignation of party General Secretary Pearl Stuart and UDP Punta Gorda Mayor Ashton Mckenzie.
