By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health says that it is being bombarded with requests for information regarding the updates for confirmed cases of COVID-19; however, those making these info requests need to be mindful of the process that needs to be followed when disseminating that information.
Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero, explained that once the Ministry learns of a confirmed case, the patient needs to be informed before the information is passed on to the public. He noted that on occasion when the information is released to the public there has not been any contact tracing or mapping exercises with respect to the confirmed case, which limits the amount of information that the Ministry can share.
“There’s a process that needs to be followed, and I cannot and nobody from the Ministry of Health is going to be sharing pieces of information. And we’re not going to hide anything from you but if we are not sharing information with you it is because we don’t have it,” Manzanero said.
Manzanero said that within an hour of the initial announcement of a confirmed case yesterday, people were demanding answers from the MOH, but he maintains that the Ministry has followed the same protocol since February and will continue to do so this month and the months to come.
