Ministry of Health says contact tracing is ongoing for COVID-19 patient from Santa Elena

Posted: Wednesday, July 15, 2020. 10:13 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health informed yesterday that it had detected 2 new cases of COVID-19.

One of the patients is a 50-year-old resident of Santa Elena Town. The Ministry said in a release that the patient was clinically improving and was sent home for self-isolation.

The Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero confirmed to BBN that the contact tracing is still ongoing.

However, there is growing concern in the town since the patient was reportedly seen in public before being attended to at the community hospital.

Manzanero said that the staff is in contact with the patient who indicated that he is improving and that the Ministry is aware of the patient being seen in the private sector as well.

BBN can confirm that the private clinic where the patient was attended to has reached out to the Ministry of Health for testing and tracing and are awaiting directives to follow procedures set forth by the ministry.
