Ministry of Education says schools can open early

Posted: Saturday, July 18, 2020. 1:37 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: In March, classes were called out in Belize due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pandemic affected the sitting of the Primary School Examinations, CXC, and graduations among many other events.

The Ministry of Education is now preparing to reopen schools on August 10, 2020.

The Ministry says that schools can open early because at this moment there is no community spread.

“Students needs to be back in school, because schools are a safety net for students. School is also a safe place for children because many of them are exposed to abuse of all kinds,” stated Carol Babb, Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education.

Big schools are encouraged to operate on shift systems and all schools are urged to adhere to all protocols set forth by the Ministry of Health.
