Bahamas bans flights from USA 2 weeks after re-opening

Posted: Monday, July 20, 2020. 8:30 am CST.

By BBN Staff: The Bahamas re-opened to international travelers on July 1, 2020 and has since announced that it is closing back the borders on July 22, 2020.

According to reports, the country has seen a spike in new cases of COVID-19. The total confirmed cases are now at 153.

Prime Minister Hubert Minnis informed all Bahamians and tourists of the changes being made to protect the country.

“Regrettably the situation here at home has already deteriorated since we began reopening our international borders,” the President said.

The President informed that effective July 22, 2020, the country is implementing a ban on all international flights except those entering from Canada, UK and countries in the European Union.

The ban will affect travelers from the United States who had been allowed in the country since the re-opening on July 1.
