Belize registers 4 new cases of COVID-19

Posted: Thursday, July 23, 2020. 9:08 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The Ministry of Health informed that it has detected 4 new cases of COVID-19.

A further 83 samples were processed today.

The Ministry says that 2 persons have recovered and 3 persons that remain reactive beyond the 14 days of being in quarantine.

The Ministry says that it has identified a further cluster of 4 cases.

“This is a new cluster linked to another illegal crossing. The 4 cases are in one single family from a community in Orange Walk; the contact tracing and further mapping of these 4 new cases and their potential contacts has started,” a statement from the Office of Director of Health services said.

Orange Walk district remains with the most active cases and in most instances tied to illegal crossings.

The call is therefore for ongoing prevention measures to continue to be implemented at all levels.

We need to remain vigilant, practice physical distancing, wear a mask when in public or whenever physical distancing is not possible, avoid large gathering or unnecessary public outings and proper hand hygiene.
