By BBN Staff: Leader of the Opposition, John Briceno informed that on July 14, he wrote to Minister of State Tracy Taegar-Panton requesting that as the Minister responsible for the issuance of boledo licenses, she provides the full details of the recently signed contract between the Government and Brads Gaming Group Limited, which by law must be presented to the National Assembly.
Briceno says that to date, no such information has been forthcoming though this matter will be tabled at this Friday’s Sitting of the House of Representatives.
“The Opposition is very concerned about the awarding of this contract once again to the Brad’s Gaming Group. We note that Belizeans have been kept in the dark about the identity of the beneficial owners of Brads Gaming Group Limited, despite persistent reports that persons with political connections at the highest level of government are players in the company,” a statement from the PUP said.
Furthermore, the party says that it is outrageous that this company was awarded a 10-year contract just months before the end of this UDP Administration’s term in office.
“All of these things underline the importance of disclosure in a timely manner so that the members of the National Assembly can be fully prepared to debate this issue when the House sits on Friday,” the party added.
The PUP says that it seems that the government is hiding something by failing to disclose the details of the contract.
