By BBN Staff: On Saturday morning around 3, Independence Police visited an area along the South Stann Creek River in the Stann Creek District where the motionless body of a Mayan decent male person wearing a grey short pants was observed laying face up on the bank of the river.
The man was identified as Dolores Sho, 37,a Belizean sales agent of Santa Rosa Village in the Stann Creek District.
Initial investigation revealed that Sho along with his brother in law Ernesto Shal and Jonathan Chiac left Santa Rosa at 8:30 pm on Friday, July 24th 2020 and went fishing at the South Stann Creek River.
About 1:00am on Saturday, July 25th 2020, they decided to go home and started to come down the river. On their way, they found an area where some bamboo trees were submerged across the river. Sho swam under the bamboo trees and did not resurface.
Both Ernesto and Jonathan began looking for him and found him unresponsive under the bamboo trees. The body was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where it was pronounced dead at 6:27am by Dr. Amy Hunter.
