BREAKING: Sudden fire destroys at least one wooden house off Jump Street

By Aaron Humes: Approximately half an hour ago, a fire broke out in a compound property off Wagner’s Lane behind South Street in Belize City.

From our observation at least one house was completely destroyed and another had to be evacuated due to water damage.

The National Fire Service and Police Department responded almost immediately and the fire is mostly contained at this time.

The affected property is along an alley way off Wagner’s Lane, almost in the middle of a congested block bounded by South Street, East Canal, Berkeley Street and Wagner’s Lane.

Observers tell us that with a change in wind direction the fire could have spread and been potentially even more devastating.

Investigation into the cause of the fire is likely to pick up tomorrow and we will have more details then.
