By BBN Staff: Worldometer is reporting that as of 8 a.m. today, July 27, 2020, over 10 million people have recovered from COVID-19 worldwide.

Some 10,095,540 people have recovered in the midst of over 16.4 million confirmed cases worldwide, with over 653,000 deaths. There are currently over 5.6 million active cases with only 1 percent (66,424) listed as either serious or critical. The virus has a death rate of around 6 percent.

The United States continues to have the highest number of infections globally, with over 4.6 million confirmed cases and is now approaching 150,000 deaths. Meanwhile, Brazil is battling some 2.4 million cases and has seen over 87,000 deaths. Since overtaking Russia as the third-most hit country earlier this month, India’s number of confirmed cases is now over 1.4 million, with over 33,000 deaths.

Of the 215 countries being monitored, Belize is ranked at 194, managing to keep just below 50 confirmed cases. Anguilla has performed the best globally in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic, reporting only 3 positive cases since the pandemic started back in December 2019.

The high number of infections in the US remains a chief concern for persons who are against the reopening of the Philip Goldson International Airport on August 15.
