Belize Coast Guard appoints first female Vice Commandant

By BBN Staff: Lieutenant Commander, Alma Pinelo, has made history by being appointed the Belize Coast Guard’s first female Vice Commandant.

Pinelo takes over from Commander Gregory Soberanis who assumes command as Acting Commandant.

Soberanis is acting commandant as Captain Elton Bennett is away studying in the United Kingdom.

In 2019, Lieutenant Commander Alma was the first Belizean and the first female to receive the prestigious Honour Graduate Award.
