By BBN Staff: The United States Embassy today issued a statement thanking United Airlines and the Government of Belize for working with the embassy to return over 1,000 Americans home.

The Americans were in Belize since the closure of the Philip Goldson International Airport.

The 1,090 U.S. citizens returned on 14 United commercial repatriation flights since March 23rd.

“While COVID-19 continues to create unique challenges for travel around the world, we are grateful to our partners to help us get Americans safely home again,” the embassy said.
