Organization of American States mourns death of officer that worked in Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone

By BBN Staff: The Organization of American States (OAS) is mourning the death of one of its officers, Luis Alonso Muñoz Sagastume, who worked in the Belize-Guatemala Adjacency Zone.

The OAS made the announcement of his passing on August 1. OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro, took to the social media platform Twitter to express his grief and share his condolences to Muñoz’s family.

“I share my deep pain and that of the entire General Secretariat for the death of Luis Alonso Muñoz Sagastume, exemplary member of the team of @OEA_oficial in Adjacency Zone #Belize – #Guatemala. Our thoughts are with your family, colleagues and friends @OEA_BelizeGuate,” Almagro tweeted.

The Adjacency Zone was established by Belize and Guatemala through the signing of the first Agreement on the Promotion of Confidence-Building Measures on February 7, 2003.
