Taxi man shot and thrown out of cab

By BBN Staff: Police are investigating a shooting incident in which Walter Staine, a cab driver, was shot in and tossed from his taxi around 2:00 a.m. near the Bottom Dollar Store on North Front Street.

According to police, Staine was driving his white Mitsubishi Outlander in the area when he heard a single shot. After the shot, he was tossed from his cab.

He was later taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for treatment of a single gunshot wound to the body. His condition at this time is unknown.

The vehicle fled over the Swing Bridge toward Albert Street and was later found abandoned on Far West Street.
