By BBN Staff: Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams issued a statement this morning calling for a new law that would make it an offence for any establishment owner, boat and bus operator to allow anyone on their premises, boat or bus without a mask and or not practicing social distancing.
The statement comes after a photo went viral on social media showing Belizeans ready to board a boat without face masks and not practicing social distancing.
Williams said that such a law would ensure that persons in their establishment, boat or bus comply with the law.
“The penalty should be taking away their operators permit,” Williams suggested.
In an earlier statement, he urged the public to comply with the regulations and informed that the police will become stricter with the enforcement.
