Orange Walk Mayor requests test for COVID-19

Posted: Monday, August 3, 2020. 1:11 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Mayor of Orange Walk Town, Kevin Bernard has requested to be tested for COVID-19.

Bernard says that over the weekend, he got information on one of the people who had contracted COVID-19 and after finding out who the person was, he immediately informed the health officer.

Bernard says that he informed health authorities because on July 20, the person had visited his OW East Political Office.

“Upon this person arriving at my office, he wore his mask at all times whilst being in my office and had to also sanitize his hands upon entering the building.  This individual sat more than 6 feet away from me and all the while wore his mask up until he left the building,” Bernard said.

Bernard informs that he then contacted health authorities to interview his OW East office staff and to be swabbed in order to rule out any doubts.

“I want to reiterate that requesting to be tested,  does not mean or imply that any of us have, but we want to rule out any possibility, ” Bernard added.

He urged all residents of Orange Walk Town to please continue to practice social distancing, wearing their mask, and washing their hands regularly.
