By Aaron Humes: The People’s United Party, if elected, plans to carry out redistricting of electoral divisions in its first year in office.
Leader of the Opposition Johnny Briceno outlined the party’s position on redistricting after the Prime Minister’s statement to us at his press conference on Friday afternoon.
For obvious reasons, the PUP does not want general elections, expected to be called in November, to be postponed.
And Senior Counsel Andrew Marshalleck, a PUP supporter, does not represent the party in the PEACE Movement lawsuit against the Elections and Boundaries Commission and others, but the interested party, Lord Michael Ashcroft.
The case is postponed until September when the court hears from an expert witness it agreed to on the position of the 31 divisions.
