Posted: Tuesday, August 4, 2020. 5:23 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Today, the Belize Police Department issued a memo to its officers restricting their movement to and from San Pedro Town.

The memo, which came from the desk of Deputy Commissioner of Police Desiree Magdaleno, notes that the restriction comes in response to the confirmed cases of COVID-19 on the island.

“…with immediate effect, NO police officer will be allowed to leave or visit the island,” the memo said.

Officers who are stationed on the island but are on leave or holiday will be allowed to return to work. The measure will remain in place for 14 days, at which time the department will be seeking advice from medical authorities.
