Scotia Bank on Ambergris Caye temporarily closed due to flu-like symptoms among staff

Posted: Tuesday, August 4, 2020. 10:22 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: As of Monday, August 3, 2020, the Scotiabank branch on the island of Ambergris Caye is temporarily closed for deep clean and sanitization.

A release from the bank says several staff members are exhibiting flu-like symptoms. They are currently being treated and evaluated.

Scotiabank’s Managing Director, Sarah Hobbs, is quoted as saying that the Bank regrets the inconvenience, but it is necessary to take all precautions to protect the health and safety of employees and customers.

The Automated Banking Machine remains open as well as digital and mobile platforms.

The Bank will reopen on Thursday, August 6.

In April of this year, Scotia was forced to close its main offices on Albert Street, Belize City, under similar circumstances.
