BEL issues warning after employee reportedly shows COVID-19 like symptoms

Posted: Wednesday, August 5, 2020. 7:07 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes:  Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) says it is investigating a report by an employee who is reportedly showing symptoms similar to COVID-19.

An internal communication shown to us says the company is reviewing contact points between the employee and others in conjunction with its private medical officer and the Ministry of Health.

The power provider reminds its employees of their individual responsibilities to health and safety, both of themselves and each other on and off the job.

Employees are reminded to wear facemasks properly, practice social distancing and good hygiene and report potential incidents.

We have sought comment from BEL and await their response.
