By Aaron Humes: The mantra of Director of Health Services (DHS) Dr. Marvin Manzanero remains clear: “Everyone you see is a potential COVID-19 case.”
And with the sudden blow of a spike in cases, on today’s Ask the Experts, he took the opportunity to once again reiterate that Belizeans must stay on their guard.
While all of Belize apart from the “full lockdown” areas of San Pedro Town, Ambergris Caye and the Orange Walk villages of Santa Martha, Guinea Grass and Shipyard is under a limited state of emergency, only a curfew is in effect and persons are not barred exept in a few cases from conducting business or traveling except to those areas.
Nonetheless, Dr. Manzanero said that at this time, unnecessary inter-district travel should in his view be discouraged, for fear of exacerbating the spread.
Likewise, limit participation in casinos (bars and nightclubs are once again closed) and in general avoid unnecessary movement, wearing masks and observing relevant protocols if needed.
