Maskall village halts travel with neighbor Santa Martha

Posted: Friday, August 7, 2020. 1:40 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Maskall Village Council has announced that effective Thursday – before neighbors Santa Martha in Orange Walk went into lockdown – its residents would be discouraged from traveling to that village.

In responding to villagers’ concerns, the Council agreed to have the community officer set up a checkpoint at the boundary line between the villages on the Old Northern Highway, except for shopowners who provide essential service.

With Santa Martha now in lockdown, all travel except in emergencies has been prohibited.

The bus run through the villages is discontinued until further notice.

Mask wearing will also be enforced as the rest of the country is now in a limited state of emergency.

The Council apologized for any inconvenience caused.
