Low lying bridge connecting Santa Elena and San Ignacio flooded

By BBN Staff: The low lying wooden bridge connecting Santa Elena and San Ignacio is currently under about 2 feet of water and is closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Heavy rains in the Cayo district, particularly in the Maya Mountains last night, have caused the Macal river to flood, inundating the wooden bridge.

Ministry of Works personnel informed BBN that they have installed signs on the approach to the bridge advising commuters that the bridge is closed.

Pedestrians are advised to use the Hawksworth bridge and vehicular traffic can access San Ignacio via the new bridge.
