Posted: Monday, August 10, 2020. 9:30 pm CST.

By BBN Staff:  A total of 144 samples were processed throughout the day and 23 new positive cases of COVID-19 were detected.

A preliminary breakdown of the new cases as provided by the Ministry of Health is as follows:

– 3 cases in Belmopan (2 are linked to the previous identified positive case in Belmopan and the other case is linked to San Pedro)

– 2 cases in Orange Walk (1 from Santa Martha and 1 from Orange Walk Town linked to a previously identified case)

– 1 case in Caye Caulker (with no apparent link to any previously identified case for now)

– 5 cases in Belize City (1 case with no apparent link to any previously identified cases, 4 others linked to previously identified cases)

The other 12 cases are in San Pedro.

The Ministry says that as the links are further established, the infographic will be updated accordingly as currently the infographic reflects where the persons are swabbed but they may have been working in a different geographic area.
