US State Department warns international travelers considering travel to Belize due to border closures

Posted: Monday, August 10, 2020. 7:01 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: The United States Department of State has issued travel advisory warning Americans considering travel to countries with closed borders due to COVID-19, including Belize.

The State Department informed all international tourists that travelers may experience border closures, airport closures, travel prohibitions, stay at home orders, business closures, and other emergency conditions within Belize due to COVID-19.

The State Department has advised that it will continue to update its travel advisory for countries including Belize as rules of border and airport closures and travel restrictions change.

Before planning any travel, visitors can check out the Embassy’s COVID-19 page for more information on COVID-19 in Belize.

The Philip Goldson International Airport remains closed for international travelers.

The airport was scheduled to re-open on August 15, but the Prime Minister announced that the reopening was suspended until further notice.
